7 of the coolest gadgets on show at IFA 2010

Wandering around the halls of the Messe Berlin for IFA 2010, it's easy to be blasé about new technology. Especially when there are 26 exhibition halls crammed with 3D televisions, brand new laptops, camcorders, 3D Blu-ray players and all manner of computing and AV hardware.
It makes defining the 'best' kit at an IFA show a tricky task. What really stands out? Where are the real "ooh" and "aah" moments that twang the heart strings of your inner geek? Here's our pick of the gadgetry that we think is worth a second look…

The Samsung Galaxy Tab
Microsoft must be kicking itself. Or perhaps it's developed some sort of prototype robotic boot device that can kick people for it. Really hard. Because while Bill Gates predicted the success of the tablet PC back in 2001, he didn't foresee that it would be running Android rather than Windows.

Today's six- to 12-year-olds are laden with gadgets their older siblings could only have dreamed about – two-thirds of them own mobile phones and iPods. Fujitsu Eyes Wireless Gadget Charging for 2012

Researchers at Fujitsu Laboratories have developed a wireless charging system that they say can simultaneously charge a variety of portable gadgets over a distance of several centimeters without the need for cables. The system, which will be detailed at a technical conference in Japan this week, could begin appearing in mobile phones and other products as soon as 2012, the company said. Wireless charging has been attracting increased interest in the last few years as the number of portable gadgets multiples. Manufacturers suppose that consumers are eager to get rid of the myriad of chargers and associated cables that can clutter up a modern home. Many of the wireless systems developed to date rely on inductive coupling between two coils -- a method that works over a very short distance and typically requires gadgets are placed on a charging pad. A Galaxy seizing the planet

Samsung, one of the two largest South Korean electronics powerhouses, has become a mobile phone producer to be reckoned with. From time to time, Samsung creates products that grab our attention — and our wallets. Testifying to its growing strength in the smartphone industry, the Aug. 5 edition of The Korea Times reported Samsung will open its twelfth R&D center in Bangladesh next year, focused on software development in response to surging market demand for upgraded smartphone technology. The latest company flagship phone is the Galaxy S i19000, which was introduced during the CTIA 2010 event in the US. This particular line of smartphone has several slightly different variations of the same product.
