iPhone apps are legal for business use

There were reports filtering out that iPhone apps may not be legal for business use. Those stories are untrue according to PC World at least for users of the App Store in the US. Those original reports were from language in the terms for Sweden and the UK that said apps are for personal, non-commercial use only. PC World reports that the language from the UK and Swedish App Stores is not present in the app store rules for the US. The Apple TOS apparently places no limitations on the use of apps in the US. PC world figures that the terms and service may have been misunderstood. It wouldn't make much sense to have apps not be usable legally to business users. RIM's Secret Growth Plan For The BlackBerry (RIMM)

Research In Motion shares are down 15% today after the company reported lousy results last night and gave a tepid forecast for the November quarter. (RIM's Christmas sales don't happen in earnest until December, so the February quarter is arguably more important. But that's still a long way away.) In the meantime, we'd like to point out something that RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie hazily mentioned several times during yesterday's earnings call as a potential growth driver for the BlackBerry: Some new sort of top-secret services platform that the company will be unveiling during its developer conference later this year. At one point, during a long rant on the call, he said: "...we are definitely still getting good margins on this but we absolutely invest in it and fair price into it and also build a services platform and you are seeing some very early indications of that, but you are going to see much more of that at our dev conference. You will start to see the plat

'Next generation' wi-fi approved

The next-generation of wi-fi technology has finally been approved for use, despite being on sale in laptops and other equipment for several years. The 802.11n technology, as it is known, was ratified by the IEEE, a body that oversees all wi-fi standards. It was conceived seven years ago and offers speeds at least six times faster than current approved technology. Electronics firms have sold PCs and routers using the standard for many years, labelled "802.11n draft". But without the IEEE's approval, there were no guarantees that future networking equipment would be compatible with the devices. The IEEE's rubber stamp has changed that. All existing draft 802.11n wi-fi products will work with the final standard, according to the Wi-Fi Alliance, a group that tests wireless products to ensure compliance. "This was an extraordinarily wide-ranging technical challenge," said Bruce Kraemer of the IEEE. "When we started in 2002, many of the technologies addressed

Acer Aspire One is a Netbook to Desire

Source: http://www.moblinzone.com The Acer Aspire One is a great little netbook! Well, the touchpad is terrible, and out of the box, it required a firmware upgrade in order to work properly.
